Aphrodite Art and Fashion takes home the title!
Canada’s best independent retailer for 2015 is Aphrodite Art and Fashion in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The shop was chosen as the winner of our latest “Loved in your ‘Hood” contest by a panel of Vicinity judges, based on product quality, customer service, and community involvement.
The contest attracted over 11,000 nominations of favourite indie retailers from Canadians across the country. In the words of one nominee, here’s why Aphrodite Art and Fashion deserves “The Best” title, which gives the shop $500 in Vicinity marketing support – plus recognition (and bragging rights) as Canada’s most beloved local retail shop:
Shopping at Aphrodite is a fantastic experience! You are always sure to get friendly and enthusiastic personalized service, and often a cup of tea! Aphrodite makes a point of supporting local artisans, especially for jewellery and art. It sources the best quality Canadian manufactures to showcase products from across the country. I know because I wear many of them and would not have access to these great products otherwise. This boutique also supports and encourages other downtown businesses – even other clothing stores! Aphrodite works on behalf of local charities and are involved with the local library and literacy group. They most recently sponsored an event called “Fashion Fantasmagoria” to support Tearmann House, which is a transitional centre for abused women and families. This boutique is most deserving of your honour, and I hope you will agree with me!
