The Amazing Escape Recap

The Amazing Escape contest ended just a few weeks ago, and we couldn’t be happier about how well it went!

The contest was simple to enter: all members had to do was make purchases at local Vicinity-enabled businesses. Their first purchase got them one entry, their second got them two entries, the third purchase got them three entries, and so on. Basically, every time  a customer shopped at Vicinity-enabled merchants during the contest period, they received contest entries for a chance to win 1 of 3 trips anywhere in Canada. We also gave out entries to our followers on Twitter for tweeting @VicinityRewards with what they loved most about the summer.

From a merchant’s perspective, running this contest was a no-brainer. We supplied all of the marketing materials and all they had to do was inform their customers of the opportunity. Now that’s what we call win-win.

What’s even better is that with the entry mechanic being that they had to make a purchase, all merchants benefited from increased sales during that promotion period.

We’re proud to announce that during the course of the contest, Merchants saw an increase of 20% in transactions and a 13% increase in new member signups!

The total additional cost of this campaign to the merchant: $0.

The Amazing Escape had over 1 million entries (1,048, 204 to be exact). This is amazing, so thank you for supporting small businesses across the country. However, there can only be three winners:

  • John Woo, a bubble tea addict from Toronto
  • John Beadle, an avid bowler from Toronto
  • Mona Kwan, a true Vicinity cardholder that shops at many Vicinity-enabled businesses from Vancouver

We have another long-term contest coming up for hockey season, so stay tuned!
